Post Menopause Bleeding
Symptoms and Solutions
Reaching menopause is more than just a chance of life. Many
women feel that they
have finally crossed a
long, unpleasant threshold. Think about it: you have finally
gone twelve months without having your period. You have crossed
over to the other side of a big, yawning chasm of change – and
lived to tell the tale! But then, if you are like the majority
of menopausal women, you wake up one more and discover post
menopause bleeding.
This can be extremely disconcerting. Twelve months is a very
long time to go without menstruating. To suddenly be bleeding
again after such an incredibly long span of time can be both
scary and confusing. And it should be – it is a scary thing.
There is good news and bad news concerning this turn of events.
The good news is that it happens to most women, so it is
practically expected. The bad news is that it can point to a
number of more serious problems.
The first thing to consider if you are
experiencing post menopausal bleeding is this: are you truly
post menopausal? A lot of women make this mistake. One of the
biggest problems is that they are not in constant contact with
their doctor or gynecologist so they do not understand
everything they need to about the whole process of menopause.
You see, unless you have gone a complete and total year without
having a period, then you have not gone through menopause. To
an extent, you are still pre menopausal, pre menopause being
one of the stages leading up to the change of life.
Ergo, a lot of women have actually only gone ten or eleven
months without having a period. Others may go about nine months
without menstruating, start spotting a little, and then go for
three more months without a period. They mistakenly think that
they have now gone through menopause itself and are currently
post menopausal. So you just have to be sure that you truly
have reached this stage of your life.
Before you do anything else, know this:
if you are absolutely post menopausal and start to experience
bleeding or even just spotting, contact your doctor
immediately. Make an appointment with your gynecologist post
haste. Even so, you should not worry. That sounds kind of
foolish after you have just been urged to run to your doctor,
but really, keep calm. Post menopausal bleeding is a truly
common occurrence. Most women experience. It is just that it
can indicate underlying, more serious problems. You really need
to err on the side of caution.
All told, about 30 percent of post menopausal women
experience bleeding. The fact is that most of them, after
getting check out, find that they have nothing to worry about.
Bleeding after menopause can be caused by many things. The
biggest cause is simple hormonal imbalance. Your hormones do
not miraculous settle down and recalibrate after menopause.
They are still fluctuating and bleeding is just your body's way
of reacting to that. There can also be an issue with the level
of nutrients and insulin in your body. This can be fixed by
taking a good multivitamin and subscribing to a healthy diet.
Weight loss and emotional stress – all common after menopause –
are also common contributing factors. So you see, the problem
like is not serious at all. It is still bound to be scary. The
best way to deal with that is, of course, to talk to a
professional.
